My goal with this artwork was to perfect the simple highlights and dark shadows in this piece. I accomplished them by using all possible resources such as the charcoal, compressed charcoal, white eraser, and chalk. What surprised me the most with this drawing was how the plate was shaped along with its shadows and highlights. The most difficult challenge I had to face with this piece was the shadow on the egg. I confronted this challenge by doing it over and over again until I got it the shape and shade I wanted it. While using the compressed charcoal and chalk my brain switched from the left side to the right side. My drawing really "works" where the plate and cup reflect on the black background/table. Some things I have learned are how to shade and blend the blacks, whites, and greys. I learned from Gabe on how to make my blacks really dark black and the whites really bright white. If I could have a do-over, I would perfect the shape of the plate and the shadows/reflections on the plate. I feel the best thing about my work is the reflections of the plate and cup because they look really realistic.

This is so well done it almost looks like photo!
